Springfield is a 100% Autumn Calving Farm covering 330ha and running 950 cows through a 62-bale rotary shed. Running a system 4 Springfield uses a Mixing Wagon to feed the herd on its newly built feedpad. A number of cows are grazed off farm during the dry period meaning holidays are available over summer between December – February.

The successful applicant will have:

  • a minimum of 5 years’ experience in pasture and stock management,
  • Commitment to walk the walk and lead health and safety on your farm
  • Excellent problem solving and effective communication skills
  • Experience in motivating and organising a team
  • Exceptional pasture management
  • Ability to manage a feed plan and allocation to maximise production
  • Proven skill in mating management for Autumn Calving
  • Confidence and competence using a computer (accurate MINDA record keeping, communication and reporting using Microsoft products and other Windows based applications)
  • Ambition, dedication, and an eye for detail to drive results
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • New Zealand Residence or a valid work visa
  • New Zealand drivers’ licence
  • Work safely, ensure all risks and hazards are managed, and ensure your team follow safe work practices and policies
  • Develop a plan and budget for the year and each season, set targets, and to make it happen
  • Care for and handle stock, ensuring all animal welfare freedoms are met
  • Set and meet a farm maintenance schedule
  • Report and communicate farm information effectively
  • Manage your team, rosters, leave and work hours.  Train new employees and support them to grow within your business and BEL Group
