Farm Assistant

Reigate is a beautiful Summer safe farm nestled under the hills of the Ruahine Ranges covering 340 hectares, milking 1000 cows through a 60 bale rotary with in-shed feeding, Protract and automatic cup removersBEL Group offer a competitive salary and opportunity to work in a great supportive family environment. The successful applicant will

• have at least a restricted driver’s license, be able to ride a motorbike (preferably have a motorbike license) and drive a tractor

• have a positive attitude, good communication and team work skills

• be physically able to do the job

• be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

• be a NZ Resident or have a valid work permit

• have some experience with stock and with milking, preferably in a rotary shed.

Farm Assistant task include:

• Work safely and follow process and policy

• Milking and shed hygiene

• Feeding out

• Caring for stock including health, welfare and seasonal stock events

• Farm and machinery maintenance

• Communicating general farm information

• Observing feed levels

Dairy Support Farm Manager

Do you like to work to a well-developed plan which you have created with the backing of an operations and support crew? Are you able to motivate and lead a great team? We are looking for a motivated person wanting to use their leadership skills to be innovative and thorough in managing our Dairy Support enterprise and team.We offer a competitive salary, comfortable accommodation and a great supportive family environment. Our 8 dairy support blocks cover 1200 h, wintering 4500 cows & 1600 R2 heifers, 1600 calves and up to 250 bulls providing for 9 dairy farms, all in Central Hawkes Bay. The successful applicant will have:

• a minimum of 5 years’ experience in pasture and stock management,

• Commitment to walk the walk and lead health and safety on your farm

• Excellent problem solving and effective communication skills

• Proven record of motivating and organising a team

• Confidence and competence using a computer (prefer MINDA experience, along with Microsoft products and other Windows based applications)

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

• New Zealand Residence or a valid work visa

• New Zealand drivers’ licence

As a Dairy Support Farm Manager for BEL Group you will be supported in your responsibilities to:

• Work safely, ensure all risks and hazards are managed, and ensure your team follow safe work practices and policies

• Develop a plan and budget for the year and each season, set targets, and to make it happen

• Care for and handle stock, ensuring all animal welfare freedoms are met

• Set and meet a farm maintenance schedule

• Report and communicate farm information effectively

• Manage your team, rosters, leave and work hours. Train new employees and support them to grow within your business and BEL Group
